The Flower Fields, California

The Flower Fields, California

Many of us who had traveled to California made a trip at least once to Napa Valley to learn about winery and enjoy their beautiful vineyard under the morning sun or evening sunset. Have you ever thought of visiting a flower field on your next trip to California?

Approximately 40 miles South of Orange County or North of San Diego, lies a city called Carlsbad; it is famous for its flower fields. You will see incredible stripes of vibrant, colorful flowers when you are driving on Interstate Hwy 5 from around mid March thru mid April. In addition, if you pay good enough attention, you will also find a big American flag, made of flowers in the field.  Isn’t that amazing?

Many families who live within driving distance like to bring their family to enjoy  the color of the blooms over the harvest season.  For many others who live farther away, they have the option to stay in the hotels built right next to the flower fields.

If you are visiting during the harvest season, you will notice workers are harvesting the flowers. You can take a picture in the flower field; however, there are photography guidelines that you need to follow when taking pictures closely to the field. You can also enjoy a tractor driven wagon ride. There is a guided tour available where you can learn more about the history, the planting process and growing cycle, and description of variety of flowers grown.  Events and workshops are offered during the weekend.  Educational program are available for schools and teachers.  Last but not least, you can host an event or a wedding at the Flower Fields. Check out their website before you make a trip out there.
